Votes of confidence for officials elected or ratified by the National Assembly (NA) and People’s Councils are defined in the Constitution and included in the Party Resolution on “current urgent issues for Party building.”

Politburo member and NA Vice Chairman Uong Chu Luu emphasised this on June 11 in Hanoi during the first meeting of the editorial team assigned to plan the “processes, procedures and approaches for votes of confidence for officials elected by the National Assembly (NA) and People’s Councils”.
He said the issue of votes of confidence for elected officials was raised during NA sessions, providing an important legal basis for developing the plan.
The editorial team’s first session discussed the scope of the plan’s framework; the purpose and reason for collecting the votes; selecting who will be put to a vote of confidence; and the timing, processes and procedures for organising the vote, as well as the criteria and content of the vote and its legal outcome.
The editorial team expects to report the plan’s contents to the Politburo and submit it to the 13th tenure NA during its fourth session in September.
